SSL Certificate Options for Different Customer Requirements
Match your customers with the validation level that fits what they, their website or their business, need.
DV Certificates
For fast, domain-based validation
Domain Validation confirms that the certificate applicant controls the domain. It is suitable for websites and online services that need encryption without verification of the organization behind them.
OV Certificates
For verified business identity
Organization Validation confirms control of the domain and verifies information about the organization operating it, with a specific employee as a contact. It is suitable when customers want their business identity included in the certificate details.
EV Certificates

FAQ
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates guarantee a website’s authenticity through a specific validation and issuing process executed by the Certificate Authority. It helps encrypt communication between users and online services. Depending on its validation type, it can also confirm control of a domain or verify information about the organization operating the service.
It is a business that offers their clients SSL/TLS certificates as a product, usually alongside domains and other website essentials, provisioned through a reseller platform like CentralNic Reseller.
Activate your CentralNic Reseller account, connect your systems through one of our many API options (including purpose-built SSL API and ACME) and you can set your chosen SSL certificate for sale.
You can offer different levels of validation with DV, OV and EV certificates. You can also resell wildcard and multi-domain certificates, which are designed to cover many domains with a single certificate.
In addition, CentralNic Reseller offers and manages certificates from DigiCert, Sectigo, Thwate, GeoTrust and RapidSSL. So, you can offer your customers exactly the SSL/TLS certificate they need.
Yes, by using a combination of SSL API and ACME, you can automate the entire SSL process, from purchase through issuance and renewal.
ACME stands for Automated Certificate Management Environment, and is an open, widely supported protocol for automating certificate issuance and renewal. Compatible ACME clients can also complete supported domain-validation challenges and, depending on the client and environment, install issued certificates.
At launch, CentralNic Reseller ACME supports Sectigo DV certificates for subscribed standard and wildcard domains. However, we’re planning to expand our offering to include OV certificates, as well as the ones from DigiCert, Thawte and GeoTrust.
While they are both APIs dealing with SSL, the two do different things. ACME is an open-source API that is purely focused on the technical side of an SSL certificate’s lifecycle. On the other hand, an SSL API usually handles the commercial side of the equation: Selling, ordering, etc.
Customers can use a compatible ACME client. Examples include Certbot, acme.sh, lego, win-acme and cert-manager. Capabilities depend on the selected client and its configuration.
Pre-registration is free. The subscription begins when the first domain requiring certificate coverage is added.
Additional domains share the subscription’s existing expiration date and are priced for the remaining full days of the subscription.
No. Removing a domain from an ACME certificate subscription does not cancel or transfer the domain registration, change its DNS configuration or affect its ownership.
No. CentralNic Reseller ACME is a separate certificate-automation service with its own APIs, pricing and subscription model.
